Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was based on preliminary interviews conducted at MIS MMA IV Sukabumi, where it was identified that teachers encountered difficulties in teaching vocabulary to students with low vocabulary knowledge and motivation. To address these issues, the study aimed to analyze the specific challenges teachers faced in vocabulary instruction. The objective of this research was to analyze teachers' difficulties in teaching vocabulary at MIS MMA IV Sukabumi during the academic year 2023/2024. The study utilized a descriptive qualitative design. The population included all teachers at MIS MMA IV Sukabumi, and a sample of 6 teachers was selected using purposive sampling from grades 1 through VI. Data collection was carried out using an instrument that consisted of 20 questions. Categorized into teaching strategies and student knowledge. Each category contained 10 questions, and the instrument was validated before data collection began. Based on the results of data analysis, the research concludes that vocabulary instruction at MIS MMA Sukabumi faces several challenges. Teachers struggle with methods such as translation, games, and Task-based learning, often finding it difficult to ensure clarity and effectively support their students. Additionally, they encounter difficulties related to students' skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. To enhance vocabulary acquisition, it is essential to incorporate interactive activities, provide constructive feedback, and create a supportive context for learning.
