Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to apply the application of the role play cards method in improving the speaking skills of class X students majoring in pharmacy at SMKS Al-Huda and see how to use the method in learning to speak English and the obstacles faced by teachers. The ability to speak English is an important skill that must be mastered by students, especially in vocational education environments such as pharmacy, where communication is an important element in the world of work. However, many students have difficulty speaking fluently and confidently. In the application of role play cards, it provides a basis that activities that promote authentic communication can improve students' language competence. Role play cards provide students with the opportunity to practice language in relevant and challenging simulation situations so that they can more easily develop speaking skills in real and structured contexts. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection was carried out through observation and interviews to determine the problems faced by teachers and students' perceptions and interests in this learning method. The results showed that most students showed a high interest in this method because of the interactivity and active involvement it offers in the teaching and learning process.
