Abstract

ABSTRACT IMPROVING STUDENTS’ LISTENING COMPREHENSION USING HELLO ENGLISH APPLICATION AT THE 8TH GRADE OF SMP ISLAM TERPADU INSAN TAQWA LAMPUNG IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2023/2024 By: Hidayah Dian Utami This research aimed to improve students’ listening comprehension skills using the Hello English application for eighth-grade students at SMP Islam Terpadu Insan Taqwa Lampung during the 2023/2024 academic year. This study utilized a classroom action research (CAR) approach, conducted in two cycles with a total of four meetings, incorporating the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. The subjects consisted of 57 students from Class VIII. The findings demonstrated a significant increase in students' listening comprehension. In Cycle I, students had not yet met the Learning Target Achievement Criteria (KKTP) of 76. In Class 8A, 18 students (62%) scored above the KKTP, while 11 students (38%) scored below it, with an average score of 76.5. Consequently, a second cycle was implemented to improve performance through evaluation. In Cycle II, all students in Class 8A (100%) achieved scores meeting or exceeding the KKTP, with an average score of 84.3. The study concluded after Cycle II, as all students had met or surpassed the target criteria.
