Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to analyze educational values found in clouds movie analyzed based on semiotic analysis. The method of research was descriptive qualitative. The researcher collected the data of research by watching the Clouds Movie about 3 times, reading the Movie Scripts and Analyzing the Semiotic Sign that relates to Educational Value from the Movie. The primary data used in this research was Clouds Movie and the secondary data were taken from books, website and journal. The researcher used grand theory from Mubarok about analysis educational values. Research findings showed that educational values found in clouds movie analyzed based on semiotic analysis were honesty, brave, peace, confidence and potential, self-discipline and moderation, purity, loyalty, respect, love and affection, not selfishness, kind and friendly, fair and humanist. Meanwhile, it was found that semiotic signs from Clouds Movie that has relation to educational value namely symptom, signal, icon, index, and symbol. But there was no semiotic sign “name” found in Clouds movie. Therefore, the English teacher is advised to teach values in learning activities such as educational values of honesty, brave, peace, confidence and potential, self-discipline and moderation, purity, loyalty, respect, love and affection, not selfishness, kind and friendly, fair and humanist. So that the students can be educated well and behave well. Keywords: Educational Value, Semiotic Sign, Movie.
