Abstract

Kata Kunci: Kulit Jeruk Manis, Kulit Manggis, Lilin Aromaterapi, Minyak Jelantah. iii ABSTRACT The development of SMME businesses in Bandar Lampung City produces a lot of unused production waste including used cooking oil waste, sweet orange peel waste and mangosteen peel waste. This waste can pollute the environment because there is no direct handling, so it is necessary to deal with the remaining SMME waste. One of them is by processing it into an environmentally friendly product, namely aromatherapy candles. Aromatherapy candles are candles made from paraffin, stearin and essential oils which when burned emit a distinctive fragrance from essential oils. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of aromatherapy candles produced from a combination of used cooking oil with the color of mangosteen peel and the fragrance of orange peel in aromatherapy candles. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental research type. The method used is RAL with 3 repetitions. The treatment in the study consisted of 5 levels of comparison with the concentration of sweet orange peel extract and mangosteen peel color extract, namely P1 (1: 1), P2 (1: 2), P3 (1: 3), P4 (2: 1), P5 (3: 1). The results of the study on the quality of aromatherapy candles showed that the results of the combination of used cooking oil with the color of mangosteen peel (Garcinia mangostana L.) and the fragrant aroma of sweet orange peel (Citrus sinensis L.) based on the evaluation of organoleptic tests produced a strong aromatic in the P3 treatment of 3.11%, the color of the aromatherapy candles produced a white color in P3 of 16.01%, the results of the burning time evaluation produced a time of 44 minutes in the P3 treatment and the melting point test produced a melting point temperature that met the SNI standard, namely 50˚C in the P3 treatment. Keywords: Aromatherapy Candles, Mangosteen Peel, Sweet Orange Peel, Used Cooking Oil.
