Abstract

Abstrak Ketimpangan pendapatan merupakan isu yang terus menjadi perhatian global karena dampaknya terhadap stabilitas sosial dan ekonomi. Pendidikan sering kali dikaitkan sebagai salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi ketimpangan ini, sementara pengangguran dianggap sebagai penyebab utama yang memperburuk ketidakmerataan pendapatan. Selain itu, kemiskinan juga berperan penting dalam memperluas ketimpangan pendapatan, terutama di daerah-daerah tertentu, seperti wilayah Sumatera bagian Selatan (Sumbagsel). Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, penelitian ini merumuskan masalah utama: bagaimana pengaruh pendidikan, pengangguran, dan kemiskinan terhadap ketimpangan pendapatan di Sumbagsel pada tahun 2019-2023 dalam perspektif ekonomi Islam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara variabel-variabel tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan data sekunder yang diperoleh dari Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS). Data yang dianalisis berupa data panel, terdiri dari lima provinsi sebagai cross section dan periode 2019-2023 sebagai time series. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan regresi data panel yang diolah dengan program Eviews 10. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial, variabel pendidikan tidak memiliki pengaruh positif dan tidak signifikan terhadap ketimpangan pendapatan. Sebaliknya, variabel pengangguran memiliki pengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap ketimpangan pendapatan, sementara variabel kemiskinan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap ketimpangan pendapatan. Secara simultan, variabel pendidikan, pengangguran, dan kemiskinan bersama-sama berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap ketimpangan pendapatan di lima provinsi Sumatera Bagian Selatan pada periode 2019-2023. Dalam perspektif ekonomi Islam, ketimpangan ini harus dikelola dengan baik dan adil, karena Islam hadir dengan prinsip keadilan bagi seluruh manusia. ABSTRACT Income inequality is a global issue that continues to garner attention due to its impact on social and economic stability. Education is often linked as one of the factors that may influence this inequality, while unemployment is considered a major cause that exacerbates income disparities. Additionally, poverty plays a significant role in widening income inequality, especially in certain regions such as South Sumatra (Sumbagsel). Based on these issues, this study formulates the main research question: how do education, unemployment, and poverty affect income inequality in Sumbagsel from 2019 to 2023 from an Islamic economic perspective? The study aims to analyze the relationship between these variables. This research employs a quantitative method using secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The analyzed data is panel data, consisting of five provinces as cross sections and the period 2019-2023 as the time series. Data analysis is carried out using panel data regression processed with the Eviews 10 software. The findings of this study indicate that, partially, the education variable does not have a positive and significant effect on income inequality. On the other hand, the unemployment variable has a negative and significant effect on income inequality, while the poverty variable has a positive and significant effect on income inequality. Simultaneously, the variables of education, unemployment, and poverty together have a positive and significant effect on income inequality in the five provinces of South Sumatra during the 2019-2023 period. From an Islamic economic perspective, this inequality must be managed fairly and justly, as Islam upholds the principle of justice for all humanity.
