Abstract

ABSTRACT The The objectives of this research were to find out the types and meaning of transitivity process is used in the learning videos in the YouTube video "HOTS learning videos for junior high school English subjects & Time for Class – Mr. Adler Science Lesson " by using theory Halliday & Matthiessen. Then, the percentage of transitivity process is used in the learning videos in the YouTube video "HOTS learning videos for junior high school English subjects & Time for Class – Mr. Adler Science Lesson " by using theory Halliday & Matthiessen The method of this research was descriptive qualitative. This research used transitivity analysis by M.A.K Halliday‟ Systemic Functional Grammar as the theory. The instrument of this research was the researcher herself where she analyzed transitivity from two YouTube videos. The researcher collected the data of research by classifying sentence into type of transitivity types of transitivity and meaning of transitivity. Describing each type of transitivity types of transitivity and meaning of transitivity. Describing the percentage of each type of transitivity and making conclusion . Based on the research finding, it showed that there were 45 utterances of transitivity process found in the learning videos in the YouTube video "HOTS learning videos for junior high school English subjects & Time for Class – Mr. Adler Science Lesson " by using theory Halliday & Matthiessen. The meanings in the YouTube video "HOTS learning videos for junior high school English subjects & Time for Class – Mr. Adler Science Lesson " by using theory John I. Saeed was literal meaning. The dominant percentage of transitivity found on HOTS learning videos for junior high school English subject was mental process (50%) with 12 transitivity sentences. Meanwhile the dominant percentage of transitivity found on Time for Class by Mr. Adler Science Lesson was mental process (42.86%).
