Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi rendahnya kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik dalam pembelajaran yang disebabkan oleh proses pembelajaran di kelas masih tertuju pada pendidik yang menggunakan pendekatan Direct Instruction. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan saintifik terhadap kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik kelas VIII pada materi ajar sistem ekskresi manusia di MTs N 3 Lampung Utara. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode Quasi Eksperimen, menggunakan desain pretest-postest group design. Populasi penelitian diambil menggunakan 2 kelas VIII dan sampel penelitian terdiri dari kelas VIII. B sebagai kelas Eksperimen dan kelas VIII. A sebagai kelas kontrol. Jumlah populasi berjumlah 60 peserta didik dengan kelas eksperimen berjumlah 30 peserta didik dan kelas kontrol berjumlah 30 peserta didik. teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik Cluster random sampling. Pada kelas eksperimen menggunakan Pendekatan Saintifik, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol menggunakan pendekatan Direct Instruction. Instrument penelitian ini menggunakan soal esai untuk mengukur kemampuan literasi sains peseta didik sesuai dengan indikator literasi sains menurut PISA. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pendekatan saintifik terhadap kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik dengan memperoleh hasil dari data pretest dan posttest yang telah dianalisis menggunakan uji Independent Sampel T�Test. Data yang diperoleh dari hasil perhitungan hipotesis menggunakan uji Independent Sampel t-test nilai Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,00 < 0,05, artinya H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Jadi dapat disimpulkan terdapat pengaruh Pendekatan Saintifik terhadap Kemampuan Literasi Sains peserta didik kelas VIII Pada Materi Ajar Sistem Ekskresi manusia di MTs N 3 Lampung Utara . Kata Kunci: Pendekatan Saintifik, Kemampuan Literasi Sains. iii ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the low level of scientific literacy ability of students in learning which is caused by the learning process in the classroom still being focused on educators who use a direct instruction approach. This research aims to determine the effect of a scientific approach on the scientific literacy ability of class VIII students on teaching material on the human excretory system at MTs N 3 North Lampung. This research is quantitative research with a quasi�experimental method, using a pretest-posttest group design. The research population was taken using 2 calsses VIII and the research sampel consisted of class VIII.B as the experimental class and class VIII.A as the control class. The total population consists of 60 students with an experimental class of 30 students. The sampling technique in this research is a cluster random samping technique. The experimental class uses a scientific approach, while the control class uses a direct instruction approach. This research instrument uses essay questions to meansure students’ science literacy abilities in accordance with the science literacy indicators according to PISA. The results of this research show that there is a significant influence of the scientific approach on students’ scientific literacy abilitiy by obtaining results from pretest and posttest data which have been analyzed using the independent sampel T-test. Data obtained from the results of hypothesis calculations using the independent sampel T-test the Sig value (2-tailed) is 0,00 < 0,05, meaning that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. So it can concluded that there is an influence of the scientific literacy abilitiy of class VIII students on the human excretory system teaching material at MTs N 3 North Lampung.
