Abstract

ABSTRACT An Analysis of Students’ Reading Interest in English Texts in the 8th Grade of Mts Al-Fatah Lampung By Diana Ayu Lestari The researcher can conduct the reading interest plays an important role in the reading activity. Based on Hidi, reading interest is referred to as a psychologicalstate of having an affective reaction to and focused attention to particular content and the relatively enduring predisposition to re-engage particular classes of objects, events, and ideas. Reading interest does not arise alone, butthere is an element of necessity. This research applied quantitative techniques. Creswell defines quantitative research as a sort of research that explains phenomena by collecting numerical data that are analyzed using mathematically based methods (in particular statistics) . The research used several methods and used various research designs. Descriptive research is a research method that tries to describe and interpret objectsappropriately in a situation. In descriptive research, there are numerous categories. So, the researcher classifies this study as a survey that uses interview and questionnaire methods of collecting data. After conducting theresearch entitles, “An Analysis of Students’ Reading Interest of englsih text at MTS Al-Fatah Lampung”, the writer finally came at this discussion part. The writer had collected the data through questionnaire and interview. the results of the analysis of whether students at Mts Al-fatah Lampung have a category or level of high medium low level that researchers need to analyze.
