Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted to find out what are the strategies used by teacher in teaching writing on recount text and the teacher’s challenges to use the strategy in teaching writing on recount text by the tenth grade of SMK SMTI Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2023-2024. In addition, the subject of this research is the English teacher of tenth grade at SMK SMTI Bandar Lampung. This research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data were gathered by classroom observation using field notes, interview, and documentation. The researcher used three major phases of the data analysis, they were: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing verification. The purpose of this research to describe what are the strategies used by teacher in teaching writing of recount text and the teacher challenges to use that strategy in teaching writing of recount text at the tenth grade students at SMK SMTI Bandar Lampung. The result found that the teacher used seven strategies in teaching writing of recount text in classroom. The first meeting and second meeting the researcher found that the teacher applied five strategies in teaching writing of recount text, there were make a lesson visual by using the media (video), main mapping and Padlet. Link new information, determine key concepts, modify vocabulary instruction, and using cooperative learning. The challenges when teaching writing process. The researcher finding that the challenges of the teacher are: The different student’s knowledge level, was the limited time, and was the difficulty of the students thought thinking, and organizing their thoughts in a coherent way in writing.
