Abstract

ABSTRACT Strategy is the important thing in teaching and learning process. There are many teaching strategy have been introduced to the teacher English in Indonesia. The aims of this research were to knowing the teachers’ strategies in teaching reading comprehension in narrative text at SMA N 13 Bandar Lampung during Covid-19 and describing the teachers’ implementation of the strategies in teaching reading comprehension in narrative text at SMA N 13 Bandar Lampung during Covid-19. This research used desciptive qualitative as a research method. Sampling technique that used was purpossive sampling. The sampe was two English teachers. The researcher involves three instruments in conducting this research, those were observation, interview, and documentation.The data obtained were processed in several stages in the form of data reduction, data display, and conclusion or interpretation. The results of this research showed that since the English teachers of SMA N 13 Bandar Lampung could not control students directly, they were used three strategies to make sure that students were read the text that has been asked to read and clarified that they were understood the text. The strategies were Question-Answer Relationships, Semantic Mapping, and Think Aloud. Furthermore, in order to implement the teaching strategies, the English teachers in SMA N 13 Bandar Lampung explained that they did not make any videos or recording to give students an explanation, but they only made the instruction to gave students an explanation that would be shared in WhatsApp Group, although they also made a lesson plan. The steps that applied by the English teachers of SMA N 13 Bandar Lampung in implementing the strategies were mostly same, they made an instruction that was shared in WhatsApp Group and provided a task.
