Abstract

ABSTRACT Presupposition is something that is assumed to be true in a sentence that asserts other information. The objective of the research is to analyze the types of presupposition found in Aaron Mate’s Interview about Palestine on the TRT World Youtube Channel and to find out most dominant type of presupposition found in Aaron Mate’s Interview about Palestine on the TRT World Youtube Channel by using Yule’s theory of presupposition. The researcher uses a qualitative descriptive method to analyze the data. The conversation between the interviewer and Aaron Mate as the data source, assuming that these conversations contain presuppositions. In this study, six types of presuppositions were found that affect the way information is conveyed and received by the hearer. There are 24 data found which the number of existential presuppositions is 9 or 38%, making it the most dominant type of presupposition in this finding. Counterfactual presupposition comes second with 6 or 25%, while structural presupposition is found at 3 or 13%. The types of factive presupposition, non-factive presupposition, and lexical presupposition each amounted to 2 or 8%.
