Abstract
ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to identify and exam ine the words that are formed by derivational and inflectional morphemes, as well as these words that can be found on Katherine Paterson‟s novel Bridge to Terabithia. The scientific discipline of morphheme studies root words and suffixes. The meaning of the word and affix is integrated into the morpheme. Eight derivational forms that alter the grammatical class and three derivational forms that do not alter the grammatical class are the two categories of derivational forms. There exist only eight varieties of inflectional morphemes. In this study, qualitative descriptive research was employed. Words created by derivational and inflectional morphemes from the Katherine Paterson‟s novel Bridge to Terabithia served as the research's data set. This study employed the theory of Fromkin, Rodman, and Hymas to analyze the data. Investigator triangulation was employed by the researcher to authenticate the data collected through the use of documents. By the results of data analysis, researcher concluded that there are two forms of derivational affixes and the inflectional affixes found in the novel Bridge to Terabithia are entirely in the form of suffixes And the affixes found in the novel Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson are predominantly of the past tense type.
