Abstract

ABSTRACT Words or phrases that denote the words, phrases, or expressions that have been or will be used are known as deixis. If the reference shifts, a term might be referred to as deixis. The identification of deixis kinds and the determination of the dominant deixis type in the Over the Moon movie are the two goals of this research. Deixis shows that for Understanding the meaning of speech requires contextual information. Drama Manuscripts are one of the appropriate objects for analyzing deixis. The drama script Over the Moon contains relevant deixis to be selected as the object of analysis. Over the moon has a direct example of meaning and context related to deixis used by the character fei fei. Therefore, this research raises research entitled In this study, the research method used is qualitative. Qualitative research is an approach aimed at understanding phenomena experienced by research subjects, such as behaviors, perceptions, social dynamics, motivations, attitudes, beliefs, and actions that occur within the context of the Over the moon movie. The data collected in this study are descriptive and not quantitatively measured. Furthermore, these data are interpreted to provide a deeper understanding of the use of deixis in the film. The researcher found There are five types of deixis in the Over the Moon film script for the character fei fei. There are 138 person deixis in speech, 19 time deixis, 10 place deixis in speech, 17 social deixis in speech and 5 social deixis in speech. Each deixis refers to a certain thing based on the context of the utterance. The total data of deixis that found in the over the moon movie script for the character fei fei are 189 data. Based on those data, the dominant type of deixis which found in the Over the moon movie character fei fei is person deixis that appeared 138 times within utterances.
