Abstract

ABSTRACT Vocabulary tree is a word creation technique where people may find in one word which related to other words that are connected to the keyword. This can help students to find and remember new vocabulary by associating the word. This research was aimed to find an influence of vocabulary tree technique towards the students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh-grade students of MTs Muhammadiyah Bandar Lampung. This research was the type of quantitative research. the method of research was quasi-experimental. The population of this research was 102 students in 3 classes. The researcher used cluster random sampling technique in choosing the sample. The sample of this research were in 2 classes namely experimental and control class which were consisted of 65 students. The data collecting of this research were pretest and posttest. The instrument of research was vocabulary multiple choice about noun and adjective which was consisted of 40 items test. The data were analyzed by using SPSS. The researcher counted the data normality, homogeneity and hypothetical test. The findings showed that from sig. (2-tailed) of the equal variance assumed in the independent sample test table where the sig. (2-tailed) obtained 0.000 It is lower than α = 0.05 and it means that Ha was accepted. Based on the result of data analysis, the researcher concluded that there is significant influence of Vocabulary Tree Technique towards students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade at MTS Muhammadiyah Bandar Lampung in the Academic Year of 2023/2024.
