Abstract
ABSTRACT PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT IN THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA: SELF ACTUALIZATION ANALYSIS OF A FICTIONAL CHARACTER By: Gevinna Balitriana 1811040493 One of the movies that describes personality development is the movie "The devil wears prada". The film tells the story of journalist Andrea Sachs, a graduate of Northwestern University who got the opportunity to work as an assistant to Miranda, editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine Runway. Dreaming of becoming a journalist Andrea is about to face her career with a temporary challenge. The objective of this study is to describe the needs and the process of self actualization in the main character of Andrea Sachs. This study uses qualitative methods and also uses qualitative descriptive. The stages of data collection including watch the movie, read the script, recorded the important parts such as scene that show self actualization and personality development in Andrea Sachs, the last collected the data and entered it into the data sheet. Finally Finding the data, analyzing and making conclusion. The result in this research hierarchy of needs by Abraham Maslow consists of five levels first, physiological needs, second, security needs, third, social needs, fourth, esteem needs, and self actualization. The main character finally can get the things called ―Independence‖ by Maslow. Keywords: Personality Development, Self Actualization, Fictional Character
