Abstract

ABSRACT This research aims to analyze connotative meaning in headline news of BBC News online and to find the dominant types of connotative meaning which found in 10 selected headline news obtain in Israel�Gaza war updated on June 2nd, 2024 until June 28th, 2024. This research used qualitative research because the researcher analyzed and described the data. The analysis particularly discuss the connotative meaning which are described in three types, namely positive, negative and neutral connotative. The result of the research shows that 1 headline news included in negative connotative, 9 headline news include in neutral connotative, whereas the positive connotative was not found in all headline news data. The dominant types of connotative meaning was neutral connotative. There are 90% of them used neutral connotative and 10% of them used negative connotative. Then 0 in positive connotative. It also shows that the news writer of BBC News online might evoke the same feeling and emotions to the readers. This finding implies that neutral connotative is most dominant than positive and negative connotative. Keywords: Connotative Meaning, Headline News, BBC News
