Abstract

ABSTRACT Speaking is a fascinating and vital topic because speaking is a way for someone to communicate with other people. Speaking is something that students must often master to make students fluent in speaking. This research explain about an analysis of students'difficulties during speaking performance in the classroom by the secondsemester students at English education study program UIN Raden Intan Lampung. This research used qualitative reseach method. The researcher chose the second semester English Education A, B, C, F, G classes which consist 149 but the researcher just interview 14 students who get score C, C+, D and E to get more specific data. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation, interview and documentation.The researcher used three major phases of the data analysis, they were; data condansation, data display and conclusion drawing verification. From the data analysis, the researcher found some conclusion of students‘ difficulties during speaking performance in the classroom by the second semester students at English education study program UIN Raden Intan Lampung as follows: first, researcher found that the students‘ difficulties during speaking performance were: lack of vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, fluency and comprehendsion. Second, factors causing the students' difficulties in speaking English were the students afraid of make mistakes, felt shy, felt nervous, fear being criticized by friends and felt inferio and the implication of this research could give the information for the reader, in this study we can know more about students difficulties in speaking performance especially in linguistic and non linguistic aspects.
