Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to know whether there was effectiveness of using relay race game in students’ vocabulary mastery at 8 th grade junior high school. The researcher applied Relay Race Game to see the effectiveness using this game that could help the students enhance their vocabulary mastery. The researcher used quasi experimental design. The researcher used cluster random sampling to determine the sample. The sample of the research were two classes, VIII G as experimental class and VIII F as control class. In collecting data, the researcher used tests. Before doing the treatment, the students did the pre-test, then the treatment experimental class using relay race game and control class used discussion method, after that the students did the post-test. After finishing the research, the researcher analyzed the data using Independent Sample T-test. After analyzing the data, it was found that the result Sig. (2- tailed) = 0.00. It meant that Sig. < 0.05. Therefore, Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. It could be concluded that there was an effectiveness of using relay race game in students’ vocabulary mastery at 8 th grade junior high Scholl at MTsN 2 Bandar Lampung in academic year 2023/2024.
