Abstract

ABSTRACT The Influence of Using Tutorial Video towards Students’ Writing Skill in Procedure Text at Junior High School Writing is an activity that produce something from our mind become meaningful a text of a sentence. The research focused on ninth-grade students at SMP PGRI 6 Bandar Lampung's difficulties in learning English, particularly in writing procedure text. The research used Tutorial Video as a medium to to determine if there is any significant influence of using tutorial video towards students‘ writing skill in procedure text at junior high school, used a quasi-experimental pre and posttest design. This research was focused on ninth-grade students at SMP PGRI 6 Bandar Lampung; the total population was 119 students, while the researcher used a cluster random sampling technique for sample selection. The sample consisted of 60 students from two classes, with pretest and posttest instruments used. The treatments were administered within 2 x 40 minutes, and the researcher used SPSS to assess the normality and homogeneity of the data after pre-test and post-test. The research found that the data was normally distributed, with a sig. pre-test and post-test results > 0.05. Furthermore, the data is homogeneous, as seen from the sig. (Based on mean) 0.060 > 0.05. This research has data results that are normal and homogeneous, so the hypothesis test used a parametric, paired sample t-test. Based on the analysis of data calculations in hypothesis testing, a significant effect could be seen in the paired sample t-test table where the value of Sig. (2tailed) of the same variant, namely 0.00 < 0.05, means that Ho is rejected, and Ha is accepted, which means that tutorial video can positively and better influence students‘ writing skills. This research gave suggestions to those involved in teaching and learning English. They are English teachers, students and next researchers related to the linear implementation of this research, which is the influence of using tutorial video on students‘ writing skill.
