Abstract

ABSTRAK Kepala Madrasah merupakan komponen pendidikan yang paling berperan dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan. Kualitas kepala madrasah akan sangat erat sekali hubungannya dengan berbagai aspek kehidupan yang ada di madrasah, salah satunya yang penting adalah mengenai peningkatan mutu pendidikan karakter yang lebih baik bagi peserta didik dan lembaga madrasah. Pendidikan karakter di MA PSA Istiqomah Islamiyah berada di lingkungan pesantren dan peserta didiknya bermukim dalam pesantren, sehingga peserta didik sudah mempunyai kebiasaan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai karakter. Dan dilihat dari visi misi madrasah sebagai acuan kemajuan sebuah lembaga, karena visi madrasah sendiri mempunyai indikator yang membahas soal karakter peserta didik, seperti salah satunya peserta didik harus santun dalam berprilaku , ber-Imtaq dan ber karakter, yang terpenting para dewan guru harus mampu menjadi suri tauladan yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran kepala madrasah sebagai educator dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan karakter yang ada di MA PSA Istiqomah Islamiyah Panaragan Jaya Kecamatan Tulang Bawang Tengah Kabupaten Tulang Bawang Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Dimana dalam prosesnya pengumpulan data wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi dengan sumber informasi kepala madrasah, waka kesiswaan, waka kurikulum, serta staff dewan guru. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, kesimpulan dan verifikasi, penulis melakukan triangulasi teknik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian peran kepala madrasah dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan karakter di MA PSA Istiqomah Islamiyah Panaragan Jaya Tulang Bawang Barat menunjukkan bahwa peran kepala madrasah sudah berjalan, hal tersebut terlihat dari kepala madrasah membimbing guru untuk melakukan bimbingan menyusun silabus, RPP berkarakter, musyawarah setiap sebulan sekali, sehingga proses pembelajaran yang tenaga pendidiknya sudah mengajar sesuai dengan bidangnya atau linear karena kepala madrasah berperan iv mengikut sertakan pelatihan guru, serta mengikuti perkembangan IPTEK pada era globalisasi saat ini untuk mengembangkan mutu pendidikan karakter seperti mengikuti bimtek, penataran dan pelatihan oleh dewan guru dan peserta didik, sehingga pendidikan karakter sudah menjadi kebiasaan peserta didik disetiap harinya, maka nanti banyaknya minat peserta didik yang mendaftar di MA PSA Istiqomah Islamiyah yang berbasis pesantren. The quality of the madrasah head will very closely cover various aspects of life in the madrasah, one of which was important was improving the quality of better character education for students and madrasah institutions. Character education at MA PSA Istiqomah Islamiyah takes place in an Islamic boarding school environment and the students live in the Islamic boarding school, so that students already have the habit of instilling character values in their daily lives. And seen from the vision and mission of the madrasa as a reference for the progress of an institution, because the vision of the madrasa itself has indicators that discuss the character of students, such as students must be polite in their behavior, have good faith and character, the most important thing was that the teacher council must be able to be good role model. This research aims to find out the role of madrasa heads as educators in improving the quality of character education at MA PSA Istiqomah Islamiyah Panaragan Jaya, Tulang Bawang Tengah District, West Tulang Bawang Regency. This study uses a qualitative research method that was descriptive in nature. Where in the process of collecting interview data, observation and documentation with information sources from the head of the madrasah, deputy head of student affairs, deputy head of curriculum, and staff of the teacher council. The data analysis technique used was data reduction, data presentation, conclusion and verification, the author performs technical triangulation. Based on the results of research on the role of the madrasa head in improving the quality of character education at MA PSA Istiqomah Islamiyah Panaragan Jaya Tulang Bawang Barat, it shows that the role of the madrasa head is already running, this can be seen from the madrasa head guiding teachers to carry out guidance on compiling syllabus, character lesson plans, deliberations once a month, so that the learning process in which the teaching staff has taught was in accordance with their field or linear because the head vi master plays a role in participating in teacher training, as well as keeping up with science and technology developments in the current era of globalization to develop the quality of character education such as following technical guidance, mentoring and training by the board of teachers and students, so that character education has become a habit for students, then there will be a lot of interest from students registering at Islamic boarding school-based MA PSA Istiqomah Islamiyah.
