Abstract

ABSTRACT AN ANALYSIS OF COOPERATIVE PRINCIPLE IN FRONT OF THE CLASS MOVIE By: HERNANDA DEWI SAPUTRI This research aims to know the types of Cooperative Principle used in Front of the Class Movie, to know the dominant type and the inference of dominant type of Cooperative Principle used in Front of the Class Movie. Cooperative Principle is one of the basic principles of guiding human communication. This research turns important for us and for teaching learning process because can guide us becomes successful in our communication. The Cooperative Principles were found using Grice’s theory which divides into four types. Front of the Class Movie is movie told regarding the disability of Brad Cohen who had Tourette Syndrome and this movie relates to education contains of the many academic values and teaching strategies. This qualitative descriptive research used documentation in collecting the data. The instruments of this research are document, data card and researcher itself. The researcher analyzed the data based on Cresswell’s theory which is to organize and prepare the data, read through all the data, analyze the data, generate a description, interpret the meaning. The researcher used investigator triangulation to validate the data analysis result. After analyzing Front of the Class Movie, there were found four types of maxims. There are Maxim of Quality 18 data, Maxim of Quantity 20 data, Maxim of Relation 13 data and Maxim of Manner 11 data. And dominant type found in Front of the Class Movie is Maxim of Quantity which represents 20 data. Keywords: Cooperative Principle, Descriptive Qualitative Research, Front of the Class Movie
