Abstract

THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS’ LISTENING COMPREHENSION AND THEIR PRONUNCIATION ACCURACY AT THE FIRST SEMESTER OF THE TENTH GRADE AT SMA TARUNA GAJAH MADA METRO IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022 ABSTRACT By: Ayu Lestari This research aimed to find out the correlation between students’ listening comprehension and pronunciation accuracy at the tenth grade of second semester at SMA Taruna Gajah Mada Metro. The design of this research was Correlational Research. The population of the research was the first Semester Students at tenth grade of second semester at SMA Taruna Gajah Mada Metro which consisted of 20 samples. The technique was Random Sampling and the data were collected by the test of listening comprehension and pronunciation accuracy. The researcher used SPSS 28.0 to analyze the data. The result of this study shows that the mean of listening comprehension test was 61.60 and the mean of pronunciation accuracy test shows that 66.20. The correlation coefficient was 0.549 at the significant level of 0.05. The correlation coefficient (0.549) was within the interval 0.400 – 0.600, the meaning was the interpretation of correlation could be categorized fair correlation. Based on the result, it could be concluded that the correlation coefficient Ha was accepted. Therefore, there was a correlation between students’ listening comprehension and pronunciation accuracy.
