Abstract

ABSTRACT Figurative language appears frequently in every literary work and is used by authors for special meanings and effects. Previously, many studies were related to the analysis of figurative language in literary works such as novels, poetry, songs, etc. Furthermore, in the learning process, figurative language analysis in poetry and songs is more often performed than figurative analysis. language in the film. In fact, there are also many figurative languages that can be found in the film. The purpose of this study is divided into two parts. The first objective is to determine the kinds of figurative language used in the film. The second objective is to explain the meaning of figurative language in the film. This research approach is a qualitative research approach because it is designed to obtain information about the various figurative languages in the film “Big Hero 6” and their meanings. While the technique used in this research is the content analysis technique. In analyzing figurative language in this study,researchers used the theory of Abrams (1999). The research results found 5 figurative languages for 23 utterances. In addition, the researcher also found differences in the meanings of each figurative language according to the context and situation when it was spoken. Key words : Figurative Language, Movie
