Abstract
ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF USING PARTNER READING TOWARDS STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION IN DESCRIPTIVE TEXT OF TENTTH GRADE OF SMKN 5 BANDAR LAMPUNG IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2018/2019 By INDHA LIESTA KURNIA SARI Students still confuses and difficult in reading. They fell hard when they learn reading comprehension in the class because the teacher only read the text and the students have to listen to the text. The objective of this research is to know whether there is a significant difference of using Partner Reading Strategy towards students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text at the tenth grade of SMKN 5 Bandar Lampung in the academic year of 2018/2019. In this research used quantitative research. The researcher used quasi experimental design with pre-test and post-test. The sample was taken from two class, X.1and X.2 which consists 60 students. The treatments were held in 3 meetings, 2 X 40 minutes for each. The population of the research was the tenth grade students at SMKN 5 Bandar Lampung, the instrument used essay question of the text. After conducting try-out, the instrument was use pre-test and post-test. The total item of pre-test and post-test were 20 items for each. After giving pre-test and post-test, the researcher analyzed the data by using SPSS to compute independent sample t-test. After giving the post-test, then the researcher analyzed the data. From the data analysis The result can be seen from sig. (2-tailed) of the equal variance assumed in the independent sample test table where the sig. (2-tailed) is 0.040. It is lower than α = 0.05 and it means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the result of data analysis, the researcher concluded that, there is a significance influence of using Partner Reading Strategy towards students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text at tenth grade of SMKN 5 Bandar Lampung in the academic year of 2018/2019.
