Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan di SDN 1 Banding Agung. Berdasarkan rendahnya tingkat pemahaman konsep IPA dan rasa jenuh peserta didik di SDN 1 Banding Agung, membuat keadaan ini menuntut guru untuk dapat meningkatkan proses pembelajaran yang dengan menggunakan metode yang menarik untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Peneliti menerapkan metode Snowball Throwing dalam proses pembelajaran khususnya pelajaran IPA. Metode Snowbal Throwing merupakan sebuah metode yang dimodifikasi dengan cara membentuk kelompok dan berdiskusi untuk membuat pertanyaan yang ditulis didalam kertas, kemudian kertas tersebut dibuat seperti bola dan dilemparkan kepada kelompok yang lain untuk dijawab pertanyaannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode Snowball Throwing terhadap tingkat pemahaman konsep IPA kelas V di SDN 1 Banding Agung. Metode penelitian penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif, dengan desain penelitian quasy eksperimental dalam bentuk nonequivalent control group design. Populasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh kelas V SDN 1 V Banding Agung dan diambil dua kelas sampel yaitu kelas VA sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VB sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu dengan tes, wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Sedangkan teknik analisis dalam uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan Uji Independent Sampel Test dan Uji Gain Ternormalisasi (N-Gain). Penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelas yaitu kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Dalam proses penelitian kelas eksperimen diberikan perlakuan menggunakan metode Snowball Throwing dalam proses pembelajarannya, sedangkan kelas kontrol diberi perlakuan dengan menggunakan metode Tanya jawab dalam proses pembelajarannya. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis Independent Sampel Test hasil pemahaman konsep IPA peserta didik dengan metode Snowball Throwing lebih tinggi dibandingkan iv dengan hasil pemahaman konsep IPA peserta didik dengan metode tanya jawab. Lalu berdasarkan hasil perhitungan uji N-Gain score, didapatkan hasil nilai rata-rata N-Gain score untuk kelas eksperimen adalah sebesar 71.585 atau 72% maka dapat dikatakan bahwa penggunaan Snowball Throwing cukup efektif sebagai metode untuk mengkatkan pemahaman konsep IPA kelas V SDN 1 Banding Agung. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan metode Snowball Throwing dalam proses pembelajaran efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep IPA kelas V di SDN 1 Banding Agung. Kata kunci: Metode Snowball Throwing, Pemahaman Konsep IPA. ABSTRACK This research was conducted at SDN 1 Banding Agung. Based on the low level of understanding of science concepts and the boredom of students at SDN 1 Banding Agung, this situation requires teachers to be able to improve the learning process by using interesting methods to overcome this problem. Researchers apply the Snowball Throwing method in the learning process, especially science lessons. The Snowball Throwing method is a modified method by forming groups and discussing to create questions written on paper, then the paper is made into a ball and thrown to other groups to answer their questions. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the Snowball Throwing method on the level of understanding of science concepts in class V at SDN 1 Banding Agung. The research method used is quantitative, with a quasi�experimental research design in the form of a nonequivalent control group design. The population used in this research was all class V of SDN 1 V Appeals Agung and two sample classes were taken, namely class VA as the experimental class and class VB as the control class. The data collection techniques used were tests, interviews, observation and documentation. Meanwhile, the analysis technique for hypothesis testing uses the Independent Sample Test and the Normalized Gain Test (N-Gain). This research uses two classes, namely the control class and the experimental class. In the research process, the experimental class was given treatment using the Snowball Throwing method in their learning process, while the control class was treated using the Question and Answer method in their learning process. Based on the results of the Independent Sample Test hypothesis test, the results of understanding science of students' understanding of science concepts using the Snowball Throwing method higher than the results of students' understanding of science concepts using the question and answer method. Then, Snowball Throwing is quite effective as a method for increasing understanding of science concepts for class V at SDN 1 Banding. Great. Based on the results of this data analysis, it can be concluded that the use of the Snowball Throwing method in the learning process is effective in increasing understanding of class V science concepts at SDN 1 Banding Agung.
