Abstract

ABSTRACT This descriptive-qualitative research aims at describing borrowing related to the translation then showing the percentage of borrowing in English-Indonesian translation. The data of this research are the students‟ translation product in translating from English to Indonesian. The reseach is qualitative research. The method of the research is case study. The data are collected by using interview and documentation. The research was conducted toward ten of the sixth semester students of English Educational Study Program of UIN Raden Intan. This research, then, was analyzed by using a data analyzing technique developed by Miles and Huberman. The result of the research has identification the kinds of borrowing, they are naturalized and pure borrowing. By the research borrowing technique that there are still many students who do not know the technique of translating using borrowing procedures. Then identification of the causes borrowing of students is low knowledge in translating ability. Because they have lack of vocabulary and they do not understanding the messages in translated form.
