ABSTRAK Berdasarkan hasil pra penelitian yang telah dilakukan oleh peneliti bahwa masih rendahnya berfikir kritis yang dimiliki siswa. Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum (KKM) pada mata pelajaran matematika MTS Negeri 2 Lampung Selatan yaitu 70, sedangkan pada soal yang memuat berfikir kritis hanya 30 dari 110 siswa atau dengan persentase 27,27% yang mampu memenuhi kriteria ketuntasan minimum (KKM) dan siswa lainnya masih berada dibawah KKM. Sedangkan pemecahan masalah matematis juga dapat diukur menggunakan instrumen tes. Materi yang diambil dalam pra-penelitian ini adalah Pythagoras. Tes yang digunakan untuk mengukur pemecahan masalah matematis terdiri dari 3 soal. Dari hasil tes pemecahan masalah matematis, bahwa masih rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas VIII MTS Negeri 2 Lampung Selatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian kualitatif adalah prosedur penelitian yang menghasilkan data deskriptif yang berupa kata-kata tertulis atau lisan dari orang�orang atau perilaku yang dapat diamati. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil triangulasi data diperoleh peneliti pada subjek S1 dari kelompok atas, subjek S1 dari kelompok menengah, subjek S1 dari kelompok bawah. Proses berpikir kritis siswa dalam pemecahan masalah matematika materi Pythagoras, proses berpikir kritis siswa dari kelompok atas dalam pemecahan masalah matematika pada materi pythagoras dari empat soal yang diberikan menunjukkan bahwa mereka melalui tahap klarifikasi, assesment dan inferensi. Proses berpikir kritis siswa dari kelompok sedang dalam pemecahan masalah matematika pada materi pythagoras dari empat soal yang diberikan menunjukkan bahwa subjek melalui tahap klarifikasi dan assesment. Proses berpikir kritis siswa dari kelompok bawah dalam pemecahan masalah matematika pada iii materi pythagoras dari empat soal yang diberikan menunjukkan bahwa mereka hanya melalui tahap klarifikasi. Kata Kunci : Berfikir Kritis, Pemecahan Masalah Matematis, Taksonomi Bloom, Siswa SMP iv ABSTRACT Based on the results of pre-research conducted by researchers, it is clear that students' critical thinking is still low. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The results of data triangulation, researchers obtained subject S1 from the upper group, subject S1 from the middle group, subject S1 from the lower group. The critical thinking process of students in solving mathematical problems on Pythagorean material, the critical thinking process of students from the upper group in solving mathematical problems on Pythagorean material from the four questions given shows that they go through the stages of clarification, assessment and inference. The critical thinking process of students from the medium group in solving mathematical problems on Pythagorean material from the four questions given shows that the subject goes through a clarification and assessment stage. The critical thinking process of students from the lower group in solving mathematical problems on v Pythagorean material from the four questions given shows that they only went through the clarification stage.
