Abstract

ABSTRAK Kemampuan komunikasi dan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika merupakan suatu kemampuan yang perlu dikuasai oleh siswa. Hasil penelitian kemampuan komunikasi dan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa dikelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Tebing Tinggi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat siswa yang tidak mencapai KKM. Hal inni disebabkan karena siswa kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal matematika dan kurang aktif dalam kegiatan pembelajaran dikelas, kurangnya tuntutan siswa dalam menggali ilmu pengetahuan tentang materi yang sedang dipelajari, dan motivasi belajar siswa yang masih rendah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk melihat pengaruh model pembelajaran Formulate Share Listen Create (FSLC) terhadap kemampuan komunikasi dan kemampuan representasi matematis ditinjau dari motivasi belajar siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif jenis Quasi Eksperimental Design. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Tebing Tinggi dengan jumlah populasi 6 kelas 176 siswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Formulate Share Listen Create (FSLC) dan kelas VIII F sebagai kelas kontrol dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes, angket dan observasi. Pengujian hipotesis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan uji MANCOVA. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa, kemampuan komunikasi dan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Formulate Share Listen Create (FSLC) lebih baik disbanding dengan siswa yang menggunakan model pemeblajaran konvensional. The results of research on communication skills and mathematical representation abilities of students in class VIII SMP Negeri 5 Tebing Tinggi show that there are students who do not reach the KKM. This is because students have difficulty solving mathematics problems and are less active in learning activities in class, there is a lack of demand from students in exploring knowledge about the material being studied, and students' learning motivation is still low. The aim of this research is to see the effect of the Formulate Share Listen Create (FSLC) learning model on communication skills and mathematical representation abilities in terms of student learning motivation. This research is a quantitative type of Quasi Experimental Design research. The subjects of this research were class VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Tebing Tinggi with a population of 6 classes of 176 students. The sample in this research was class VIII A as an experimental class using the Formulate Share Listen Create (FSLC) learning model and class VIII F as a control class using a conventional learning model. Data collection techniques include tests, questionnaires and observations. Hypothesis testing in this research uses the MANCOVA test. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it was concluded that the communication skills and mathematical representation abilities of students using the Formulate Share Listen Create (FSLC) learning model were better compared to students who used conventional learning models.
