Abstract

ABSTRAK Komunikasi termasuk sebagian cara pendidik dan peserta didik dalam berinteraksi. Kemampuan komunikasi bisa menolong peserta didik makin mudah dengan menerima informasi, juga apapun yang pendidik terangkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi siswa pada pembelajaran tematik melalui penerapan metode peer teaching di kelas V Sekolah Dasar Negeri 18 Tumijajar. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan komunikasi siswa yang menunjukkan keterampilan komunikasi pada kategori kurang karena masih banyak siswa yang belum mampu menyampaikan pesan dan berbagi informasi terkait materi pembelajaran dengan baik. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang subjeknya adalah seorang guru dan 23 orang siswa, dan objeknya adalah penerapan metode peer teaching dan kemampuan komunikasi peserta didik. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus dan setiap siklus terdiri dari tiga kali pertemuan. Teknik pengumpulan dengan menggunakan teknik observasi, tes kemampuan komunikasi peserta didik. Hasil penelitian dan analisis data menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode peer teaching dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi peserta didik. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari grafik peningkatannya. Sebelum Tindakan dilakukan hanya 26,08%. Kemudian setelah penerapan metode peer teaching dilakukan, pada siklus I pertemuan pertama persentasinya menjadi 43,47%, pada pertemuan kedua naik menjadi 52,17%, dan pada pertemuan ketiga naik menjadi 60,86%. Kemudian dilakukan siklus II pertemuan pertama 73,91%, pertemuan kedua keterampilan komunikasi siswa juga meningkat menjadi 82,60% dan pada pertemuan ketiga persentasenya mencapai 91,30% atau berada pada kategori cukup. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode peer teaching dapat meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi siswa pada pembelajaran Tematik muatan pelajaran Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial di kelas V Sekolah Dasar Negeri 18 Tumijajar. Communication skills can help students more easily receive information, as well as whatever the teacher explains. This research aims to determine the improvement of students' communication skills in thematic learning through the application of the peer teaching method in class V of Tumijajar State Elementary School 18. This research is motivated by the low communication skills of students who show communication skills in the poor category because there are still many students who are not able to convey messages and share information related to learning material well. This research is Classroom Action Research whose subjects are a teacher and 23 students, and the object is the application of peer teaching methods and students' communication skills. This research was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. Collection techniques using observation techniques, test students' communication skills. The results of research and data analysis show that the application of the peer teaching method can improve students' communication skills. This can be seen from the increase graph. Before the action was taken it was only 26.08%. Then after the peer teaching method was implemented, in cycle I at the first meeting the percentage was 43.47%, at the second meeting it rose to 52.17%, and at the third meeting, it rose to 60.86%. Then in cycle II, the first meeting was 73.91%, at the second meeting the students' communication skills also increased to 82.60%, and at the third meeting the percentage reached 91.30% or was in the sufficient category. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the peer teaching method can improve students' communication skills in thematic learning of Citizenship Education and Social Sciences lesson content in class V of Tumijajar State Elementary School 18.
