Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi rendahnya Higher Order Thinking Skill dan kemampuan komunikasi peserta didik dalam pembelajaran yang disebabkan oleh proses pembelajaran dikelas masih tertuju pada pendidik yang menggunakan pendekatan teacher centered, sehingga peserta didik menjadi pasif dan tidak dapat mengembangkan Higher Order Thinking Skill serta kemampuan komunikasi peserta didik. Agar dapat meningkatkan higher order thinking skill dan kemampuan komunikasi peserta didik, peneliti menerapkan pendekatan saintifik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan saintifik terhadap Higher Order Thinking Skill dan kemampuan komunikasi peserta didik kelas XI SMA 8 Negeri Bandar Lampung. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode quasy experiment. Populasi penelitian yang diambil menggunakan 2 kelas XI IPA dan sampel penelitian terdiri dari XI IPA 1 sebagai kelas Eksperimen dan kelas XI IPA 3 sebagai kelas kontrol. Jumlah populasi terdiri dari 50 peserta didik dengan dengan kelas kontrol 25 peserta didik dan kelas eksperimen 25 peserta didik. Teknik sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu teknik Random Sampling. Pada kelas eksperimen menggunakan pendekatan saintifik sedangkan pada kelas kontrol menggunakan pendekatan teacher centered. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan soal essay untuk mengukur kemapuan higher order thinking skill yang sesuai dengan indikator higher order thinking skill dan angket untuk mengukur kemampuan komunikasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data yang diperoleh Dari data pretest dan posttest yang dianalisis menggunakan uji Independent Sample T-Test untuk menjawab hipotesis. Data diperoleh hasil perhitungan hipotesis dengan uji independent t-test nilai sig (2-tailed) yaitu 0,00 < 0,05 artinya H0 ditolak H1 diterima. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis pada penelitian tersebut diterima, artinya terdapat pengaruh Pendekatan Saintifik terhadap Higher Order Thinking Skill dan kemampuan komunikasi peserta didik. Kata kunci : Pendekatan Saintifik, Higher Order thinking Skill, Kemampuan Komunikasi iii ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the low Higher Order Thinking Skills and communication abilities of students in learning which is caused by the learning process in the classroom still being focused on educators who use a teacher centered approach, so that students become passive and cannot develop Higher Order Thinking Skills and students' communication abilities. In order to improve students' higher order thinking skills and communication abilities, researchers apply a scientific approach. The aim of this research is to determine the influence of the scientific approach on the Higher Order Thinking Skill and communication abilities of class XI students at SMA 8 Negeri Bandar Lampung. This research is quantitative research with a quasi experiment method. The research population was taken using 2 classes of XI Science and the research sample consisted of XI Science 1 as the experimental class and class XI Science 3 as the control class. The total population consists of 50 students with a control class of 25 students and an experimental class of 25 students. The sample technique in this research is the Random Sampling technique. The experimental class uses a scientific approach, while the control class uses a teacher centered approach. The research instrument uses essay questions to measure higher order thinking skills in accordance with higher order thinking skills indicators and a questionnaire to measure communication skills. Based on the results of data analysis obtained from pretest and posttest data which were analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test to answer the hypothesis. Data obtained from hypothesis calculations using the independent t-test sig value (2- tailed) is 0.00 < 0.05, meaning that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. So it can be concluded that the hypothesis in this research is accepted, meaning that there is an influence of the Scientific Approach on Higher Order Thinking Skills and students' communication abilities.
