Abstract

ABSTRAK Hutan mangrove merupakan salah satu sumber daya alam Indonesia yang banyak terdapat di wilayah pesisir. Ekosistem mangrove mempunyai banyak fungsi yang tidak kalah pentingnya, seperti perikanan, pelindung pantai, tempat rekreasi dan lain sebagainya. Saat ini ekosistem mangrove telah banyak dimanfaatkan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup masyarakat, seperti permukiman, pertambakan, kawasan industri, pertanian dan sebagainya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi hutan mangrove Petengoran di Desa Gebang Kecamatan Padang Cermin, Kabupaten Pesawaran, dan untuk mengetahui upaya konservasi hutan mangrove Petengoran yang dilakukan di Desa Gebang Kecamatan Padang Cermin, Kabupaten Pesawaran. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian lapangan yang bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dengan studi literatur. Pengambilan data menggunakan studi literatur, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh dari hasil studi literatur selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif berdasarkan tujuan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sudah cukup baik setelah adanya konservasi hutan mangrove. Adanya hutan mangrove menjadi penghalang terhadap erosi pantai, tiupan angin kencang, dan gempuran ombak yang kuat serta pencegahan instrusi air laut. Adanya hutan mangrove dapat melindungi kawasan pesisir dari ombak, aliran air pasang surut, dan suhu yang hangat. Upaya perusakan hutan mangrove dapat diminimalisir dengan cara pengelolaan berbasis masyarakat. Melibatkan masyarakat di sekitar pesisir pantai untuk melakukan upaya perbaikan hutan mangrove karena yang berhubungan secara langsung terhadap ekosistem hutan mangrove adalah masyarakat itu sendiri. Kata kunci: Hutan Mangrove, Konservasi, Petengoran. iv ABSTRACT Mangrove forests are one of Indonesia's natural resources that are widely found in coastal areas. Mangrove ecosystems have many important functions, such as fisheries, coastal protection, recreation and so on. Petengoran mangrove forest is maintained due to the occurrence of malaria endemic in 2009, due to the destruction of mangrove forests and mosquito larvae that have not had time to breed, so that when carried by the wind spread to settlements. The purpose of this study was to determine the condition of Petengoran mangrove forest in Gebang Village, Padang Cermin Subdistrict, Pesawaran Regency, and to determine the conservation efforts of Petengoran mangrove forest carried out in Gebang Village, Padang Cermin Subdistrict, Pesawaran Regency. This research includes descriptive qualitative field research with literature studies. Data were collected using literature study, observation, and documentation. The data obtained from the results of the literature study were then analyzed using descriptive analysis based on the research objectives. The results of the study show that it is quite good after the conservation of mangrove forests. The existence of mangrove forests is a barrier against coastal erosion, strong winds, and strong waves as well as prevention of seawater intrusion. The existence of mangrove forests can protect coastal areas from waves, tidal water flow, and warm temperatures. Efforts to destroy mangrove forests can be minimized by community-based management. Involve the community around the coast to make efforts to improve mangrove forests because those who are directly related to the mangrove forest ecosystem are the people themselves.
