Abstract

ABSTRACT Reading is one of the most important activities to get information. The students reading comprehension in MTs Darussalam Batumarta VI is still low. To solve this problem, the researcher applied Wattpad application to develop students reading comprehension. This application helped students to be more active and enjoyable in learning English especially in reading. The objective of this research is to find out whether there is an influence of Wattpad Application in Teaching Reading Comprehension on Narrative Text at the Second Semester of the Eighth Grade at MTs Darussalam in the Academic Year of . This research use quantitative approach. It was focus on the influence of the Wattpad application to teaching raeding comprehension. The researcher used quasi experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test. In this research, there were found the influence of Wattpad application in teaching reading comprehension on narrative text in MTs DARUSSALAM Batumarta VI. It was proven from the result of hyphothetical test showed that Sig. (Pvalue) or Sig. ( -tailed) of the equal variance was and the a = . It means that Sig. (Pvalue) <a, so H is rejected and Ha accepted. Furthermore the result of average score of post-test in experimental class and control class was different before and after the treatment. The average score of experimental class and control class was slightly different. The experimental class which got the treatment showed the higher average score than the average score of control class who learning with the Textbook.
