Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan menjelaskan proses terjadinya diaspora orang Bugis di Lampung pada abad XIX dan XX. Penelitian ini untuk mengurutkan proses kehadiran orang Bugis sebagai perantau di Lampung pada periode keduanya berdasarkan fakta dan kronologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah (heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi). Sumber yang digunakan untuk menjawab pertanyaan penelitian antara lain: sumber tertulis, sumber benda/artefak, sumber lisan/wawancara. Hasil penelitian menemukan tiga fakta penting: Pertama, diaspora Bugis dilatari oleh gangguan keamanan di Sulawesi Selatan, budaya merantau (passompe), dan motivasi ekonomi. Kedua, kehadiran orang Bugis di Lampung berkontribusi menciptakan keamanan, dengan memberantas aksi bajak laut di Teluk Lampung, dan bidang keagamaan berupa penguatan Syiar Islam melalui pembangunan masjid Al Anwar di Teluk Betung. Ketiga, orang Bugis memiliki hubungan baik dengan penduduk Lampung yang ditandai pembentukan Kampung Bugis di Teluk Betung. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa kehadiran orang Bugis memperkokoh semangat keagamaan dan memperkaya keberagaman etnis di Lampung, dan saya tahan budaya suku Bugis yang kuat di tanah rantau. KATA KUNCI: Diaspora, Bugis, Sejarah Islam, Lampung iv ABSTRACT This study aims to explain the process of the Bugis diaspora in Lampung in the XIX and XX centuries. This research is to sequence the process of the presence of Bugis as immigrants in Lampung in the second period based on facts and chronology. This study uses historical research methods (heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography). Sources used to answer research questions include: written sources, objects/artifacts, oral sources/interviews. The results of the study found three important facts: First, the Bugis diaspora was motivated by security disturbances in South Sulawesi, the culture of migrating (passompe), and economic motivation. Second, the presence of the Bugis in Lampung contributed to creating security, by eradicating pirate acts in Lampung Bay, and in the religious sector by strengthening the symbols of Islam through the construction of the Al Anwar mosque in Betung Bay. Third, the Bugis people have good relations with the people of Lampung, which is marked by the establishment of a Bugis village in Teluk Betung. This study concludes that the presence of the Bugis strengthens the religious spirit and enriches ethnic diversity in Lampung, and I hold that the Bugis ethnic culture is strong in overseas lands.
