Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman peserta didik dengan menggunakan metode Preview, Question, Read, Summerize, Test di kelas V MI Nurul Islam 2 Karang Sari. Penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), menggunakan model Kemmis and Taggart, dalam hal ini dengan mengamati peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman peserta didik kelas V dengan menerapkan metode Preview, Question, Read, Summerize, Test (PQRST). Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi dan tes. Data kualitatif diperoleh dari lembar observasi pendidik dan peserta didik pada saat kegiatan belajar mengajar, sedangkan data kuantitatif diperoleh dari hasil belajar peserta didik pada saat melakukan pre-test dan post-test. Semua data tersebut merupakan instrumen data untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode Preview, Question, Read, Summerize, Test dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman peserta didik kelas V di MI Nurul Islam 2 Karang Sari. Hasil penelitian menunjukan sebelum dilakukannnya tindakan, skor rata-rata yang diperoleh peserta didik saat pre-test sebesar 58,91 menunjukkan tingkat kemampuan membaca pemahaman peserta didik “rendah”. Setelah dilakukan tindakan menggunakan metode Preview, Question, Read, Summerize, Test pada siklus I perolehan skor saat post-test menjadi 66,83 menunjukan bahwa kemampuan membaca pemahaman peserta didik mengalami peningkatan. Sedangkan pada siklus II diperoleh skor rata-rata setelah dilakukan post test menjadi 81,83 yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca pemahaman peserta didik berada pada tingkat “tinggi”. Ketuntasan belajar dengan presentase sebesar 83% melalui post test pada siklus II yang menunjukkan keberhasilan dalam penelitian ini. Kata kunci: Metode Preview, Question, Read, Summerize, Test, Membaca Pemahaman iii ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the increase in students' reading comprehension skills using the Preview, Question, Read, Summerize, Test method in class V MI Nurul Islam 2 Karang Sari. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR), using the Kemmis and Taggart model, in this case by observing the increase in reading comprehension skills of fifth grade students by applying the Preview, Question, Read, Summerize, Test (PQRST) method. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation and tests. Qualitative data were obtained from teacher and student observation sheets during teaching and learning activities, while quantitative data were obtained from student learning outcomes during the pre-test and post-test. All of these data are data instruments to describe the application of the Preview, Question, Read, Summerize, Test method in improving the reading comprehension skills of fifth grade students at MI Nurul Islam 2 Karang Sari. The results showed that before the action was taken, the average score obtained by the students during the pre-test was 58.91 indicating a "low" level of students' reading comprehension ability. After the action was taken using the Preview, Question, Read, Summerize, Test method in cycle I, the score at the post-test became 66.83 indicating that students' reading comprehension skills had increased. Whereas in cycle II, the average score after the post-test was carried out was 81.83 which showed that students' reading comprehension skills were at a "high" level. Learning completeness with a percentage of 83% through the post test in cycle II which shows success in this study. Keywords: Preview Method, Question, Read, Summerize, Test, Reading Comprehension
