Abstract

ABSTRACT The learning process at SMA Perintis 1 Bandar Lampung had low ability in mastering vocabulary because the teacher only used textbook in mastering students’ vocabulary so that learning was less efficient because the students’ feel lazy, bored and unmotivated. This research aimed to determine whether there was an effect of using JOOX Application on Students’ vocabulary mastery. The research methodology of this research was quasy experimental design. The population of this research was the tenth grade of SMA Perintis 1 Bandar Lampung in academic year 2022/2023. The samples of this research were two classes, X.1 and X.2. (X.1) consisted of 27 students as the experimental class and (X.2) consisted of 28 students as the control class. The experimental class used JOOX Application, while the control class used textbook. The treatments were held in 3 meetings. In collecting the data, this research used a test for the instrument by multiple-choice questions. Before giving the treatment, a pre-test was given. Then, after conducting the treatment was given a post-test. Based on the result data analysis showed that the vocabulary scores obtained by students before and after treatments had significant differences, this could be seen from the following facts. The gain score of experimental and control class. The mean of gain score of experimental class was 17.22, whereas the mean of gain in control class was 11.16. It showed that the gain in experimental class was higher than gain score in control class. It means that the teaching and learning by using Joox application has effective it. As the score of Hypothesis test the result obtained in the independent sample t-test in the table 4.3, that the value of significant generated Sig. (ρvalue) = 0.000 and < α = 0.05. So, Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Based on the computation, it can be concluded that there was significant effect on vocabulary mastery by using JOOX Application in teaching vocabulary.
