Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is based on background the principle of democracy comes from student by students and for student especially on campus there are still variety issues that still need to be discussed in the upheaval dynamics that occur on campus namely regarding the mechanism for select student senate against democratic principle, which is related how to the proses. The formulation of the problem in research is how to apply democratic principles in the election of UIN Raden Intan Lampung student senate in 2022. The purpose of this research in general is to find out more deeply about the application of democratic principles in the selection senate of students UIN Raden Intan student senate Lampung in 2022. This study uses a qualitative approach with field research explanations. Technique of data collection used Purposive Sampling in which the researcher made further observations seeking information through in-depth interviews with informants and documentation. The theory used is the theory of democratic principles. The results of this study are that the selection of senate members at UIN Raden Intan Lampung refers to the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education number 4961 of 2016 whose election is not open because it means that in democratic principles there is publicity. Because of that, the election for the student senate of UIN Raden Intan Lampung did not fulfill democratic principles. Because not all students were involved in selecting members of the senate, and not all students were able to run for office, regardless of the background of the students themselves, the bold election that was carried out caused the participation of students to vote to be reduced, this was because the election of the student senate was carried out randomly. Not open. The indirect system also causes socialization to be limited. In addition, open elections do not create pessimism, that the results could be rigged, because the vote count was not witnessed in person, and the results may have been manipulated. . ABSTRAK Penelitian ini di latar belakangi prinsip demokrasi yang berasal dari mahasiswa oleh mahasiswa dan untuk mahasiswa khususnya di kampus masih menjadi berbagai persoalan yang masih harus dibahas di dalam pergolakan dinamika yang terjadi di kampus yakni terkait mekanisme pemilihan senat mahasiswa terhadap prinsip-prinsip demokrasi, yakni terkait bagaimana prosesnya. rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana penerapan prinsip-prinsip demokrasi dalam Pemilihan Senat Mahasiswa Universitas UIN Raden Intan Lampung pada tahun 2022. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini secara umum adalah untuk mengetahui lebih mendalam tentang penerapan prinsip-prinsip demokrasi dalam Pemilihan Senat Mahasiswa UIN Raden Intan Lampung pada tahun 2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan penjelasan field research. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik Purposive sampling yang mana peneliti melakukan observasi selanjutnya mencari informasi melalui wawancara mendalam kepada informan dan dokumentasi teori yang digunakan adalah teori prinsip- prinsip demokrasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pemilihan anggota senat di UIN Raden Intan Lampung mengacu pada SK Dirjen Pendis nomor 4961 tahun 2016 yang pemilihannya di lakukan secara tidak terbuka oleh karna itu di dalam prinsip-prinsip democrasi adanya transparansi artinya keterbukaan. Oleh karna itu pemilihan senat mahasiswa UIN Raden Intan Lampung belum memenuhi prinsip-prinsip demokrasi. Karena tidak semua mahasiswa dilibatkan dalam pemilihan anggota senat, dan tidak semua mahasiswa boleh mencalonkan diri, dengan tanpa membedakan latar belakang dari mahasiswa itu sendiri., pemilihan secara daring yang dilakukan menyebabkan partisipasi mahasiswa untuk memilih menjadi berkurang, hal ini dikarenakan pemilihan senat mahasiswa di lakukan secara tidak terbuka. Sistem tidak langsung juga menyebabkan sosialisasi menjadi terbatas. Selain itu, pemilihan secara tidak terbuka menimbulkan pesimisme, bahwa hasil bisa saja dicurangi, karena perhitungan suara tidak disaksikan secara langsung, dan hasil kemungkinan dimanipulasi.
