Abstract

Kata Kunci : pendidik, sifat pendidik, tugas pendidik iv ABSTRACT Currently, we meet many people who study Sufism on a self-taught basis without the guidance of a mursyid teacher. Reading Sufism works written by both Sufi teachers and theoretical experts on Sufism. There are so many Sufism teachers who have sprung up, attracting the sympathy of the masses, but in essence they do not have the standards of being a wali mursyid teacher. Some are anti-Sufism or those who understand Sufism in individual ways, according to their own methods and methods, without the guidance of a murshid. This prompted the researcher to reveal "What is the concept of teacher according to Abû Hâmid al-Ghazâlî and Syekh 'Abd al-Qâdir al-Jîlâni?" In this thesis research, the researcher uses a type of library research. Primary data sources are from the works of Ab Hâmid al-Ghazâlî and Syekh 'Abd al-Qâdir al-Jîlâni, and secondary sources from various literatures relevant to the research theme. The data collection technique used by the researcher is a literature study method and the data analysis is descriptive, descriptive and comparative analysis is also used. The results showed that: First, the terms used by Abû Hâmid al-Ghazâlî and 'Abd al-Qâdir al-Jilânî were al-mu'allim, al-mudarris, and al-wâlid, sheikh, murshid, walî, mu'allim, and muaddib. According to Ab Hamid al-Ghazâlî, teachers are people who are knowledgeable, do good deeds, teach knowledge and provide benefits for the afterlife and show ways to get closer to Allah swt. The position as an "authority" in the kingdom of heaven and the task of the caliphate of Allah is the most important. 'Abd al-Qadir argues that teachers are a way (tharîq) to Allah and a guide to Him and a door that must be entered to lead to Him. Teachers have a very noble task, namely being an intermediary to get closer to Allah swt. Second, the characteristics of teachers according to the two figures are in line with the magnitude, but in using different expressions. The similarity is seen in educating with compassion, honesty and trustworthiness, paying attention to individual differences, following the Shari'a, not demeaning other sciences and some are different, such as al-Ghazâlî emphasizing not expecting wages, while al-Jilânî accepts students for the sake of Allah. Third, both figures share the opinion that everyone must have a murshid teacher who can give him directions on his journey, and eliminate despicable morals, except according to al-Jîlânî which occurs out of the ordinary, where Allah swt. who directly educates and guides whom He wills. The opinion strengthens the theory put forward by Ibn 'Athā'i Allāh, Abdul Karim al-Qusyairi, Imam Al-Sya'rānī and rejects the opinion of Ibn Taimyah, Sa'îd Hawwa and a number of supporting figures that do not require a student to have an teacher, and the process learning can be done self-taught. Keywords: teachers, the nature of teachers, the task of teachers
