Abstract

ABSTRAK Pemahaman konsep matematis merupakan kemampuan untuk menguasai materi dan kemampuan siswa untuk memahami, menyerap, menguasai, dan menerapkannya dalam pembelajaran matematika. Berdasarkan Pra Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep matematis siswa di SMP PGRI 2 Katibung masih rendah. Penyebab rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematis dikarenakan penggunaan model pembelajaran yang kurang tepat sehingga membuat siswa kurang aktif selama pembelajaran, maka diperlukan inovasi baru dalam proses pembelajaran matematika untuk mengembangkan kemampuan tersebut. Penerapan model pembelajaran Explicit Instruction diharapkan dapat mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasy Experimental. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VII SMP PGRI 2 Katibung. Sampel yang digunakan yaiu 2 kelas yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik acak kelas, yaitu kelas VII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Explicit Instruction dan kelas VII B sebagai kelas kontrol dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran ekspositori. Pengujian Hipotesis menggunakan anova dua arah sel tak sama, dengan taraf signifikan 5%. Berdasarkan hasil uji anova dua arah sel tak sama, dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Terdapat pengaruh antara model pembelajaran Explicit Instruction dengan model pembelajaran ekspositori terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa SMP, (2) Tidak terdapat pengaruh kategori self reliance tinggi, sedang dan rendah terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa SMP, (3) Tidak terdapat interaksi antara faktor model pembelajaran dengan self reliance terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa SMP. Kata Kunci : Model Pembelajaran Explicit Instruction, Pemahaman Konsep Matematis, Self Reliance. iv ABSTRACT Understanding mathematical concepts is the ability to master the material and the ability of students to understand, absorb, master, and apply it in learning mathematics. Based on the pre-study, it shows that the students' understanding of mathematical concepts at SMP PGRI 2 Katibung is still low. The cause of the low understanding of mathematical concepts is due to the use of inappropriate learning models that make students less active during learning, so new innovations in the mathematics learning process are needed to develop these abilities. The application of the Explicit Instruction learning model is expected to overcome these problems. The type of research used is Quasy Experimental. The population in this study were seventh grade students of SMP PGRI 2 Katibung. The sample used is 2 classes selected using a randomized class technique, namely class VII A as the experimental class using the Explicit Instruction learning model and class VII B as the control class using the expository learning model. Hypothesis testing used a two-way ANOVA of different cells, with a significant level of 5%. Based on the results of the two-way ANOVA test of unequal cells, it can be concluded that: (1) There is an influence between the Explicit Instruction learning model and the expository learning model on the understanding of mathematical concepts of junior high school students, (2) There is no effect of high, medium and low self-reliance categories on understanding of junior high school students' mathematical concepts, (3) There is no interaction between learning model factors and self-reliance on junior high school students' understanding of mathematical concepts.
