Abstract

ABSTRAK Deskripsi kimia asam basa telah dikembangkan melalui beberapa langkah baik yang umum maupun yang canggih. Tingkat asam atau basa pada umumnya dinyatakan sebagai nilai pH. Pengukuran nilai pH sebagai indikator banyak digunakan dalam produk obat, kosmetik, dan makanan yang berperan penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan beberapa tumbuhan berdasarkan antosianin yang dimilikinya dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai indikator alami. Tanaman yang digunakan sebagai indikator alami didapatkan melalui ekstraksi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut yang sesuai. Jenis tanaman yang dapat dimanfaatkan adalah bougenvil ungu, bunga sepatu, kulit buah naga, ubi ungu, kulit buah manggis, bunga telang, bunga pukul empat, ketan hitam, bunga dadap merah, bunga karamunting, kulit bawang merah, kulit rambutan, bunga krokot, buah pinang, murbei, bayam merah, kunyit, bunga flamboyan, bunga reulia, daun kupu-kupu, dan kol ungu. Kata kunci: Asam basa, Indikator alami, Tanaman. iv ABSTRACT Acid-base properties are inseparable from human life. The chemical description of acids and bases has been developed through several steps, both general and sophisticated. The level of acid or base is generally expressed as a pH value. Measurement of pH value as an indicator is widely used in medicinal, cosmetic, and food products that play an important role in everyday life. The results of this study indicate that several plants based on their anthocyanins can be used as natural indicators. The plant used as natural indicators were obtained through extraction with the maceration method. Types of plants that can be used are purple bougainvillea, hibiscus flower, dragon fruit skin, purple sweet potato, mangosteen peel, telang flower, four o'clock flower, black sticky rice, red dadap flower, karamunting flower, onion skin, rambutan skin, flower purslane, betel nut, mulberry, red spinach, turmeric, flamboyant flower, reulia flower, butterfly leaf, and purple cabbage. Apart from being an alternative for measuring pH, natural indicators are easy to extract, cheaper prices, easier to obtain, and safe for the environment.
