Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was about teaching and learning descriptive text writing by using rapid writing strategy at the first semester of the eight grade at MTs NurulImanSidodadi in the academic year of 2021/2022. The objectives of this research were to know and describe the process implementation of teaching and learning descriptive text by using rapid writing strategy, teacher problems in the process of teaching writing descriptive text by using rapid writing strategy and student’s problem in the process of learning writing descriptive text by using rapid writing strategy. Therefore, the qualitative descriptive research had been employed. This research was conducted in VIII.A class as sample which consisted of 34 student’s, by doing purposive sampling technique. This research analyzed case of the problem by collecting the data. To gain the data from begining of process this research used observation, interview and questionnaire because this research focused on teaching and learning process. In qualitative research to make it accurate the data used triangulation. Which focused on time and method. The research was conducted for 2 meetings. In adittion, to analyze the data used three steps: data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing of verification. After analyzing the data, there were found three points of the result. First, the teacher did apply the steps well of teaching writing descriptive text by using Rapid Writing Strategy. The second, the problems faced by the teacher were : she had difficult in handle the class condition because the higher number of students, and she had difficulty to manage the time because of the teaching and learning process spared much time. Lastly, the problems faced by the students were: the students found difficulties in grammar, the problem in organizing ideas to write, difficulty in composing the words, because lack vocabulary, difficult to choose words become a paragraph, students had difficult with their punctuation , and difficult to developing their ideas.
