Abstract

ABSTRACT This research carried out to analyze students’ need by excellent class of Constitutional Law program at Shari’a faculty. There are six types of need that was used, target situation, present situation, pedagogic, deficiency, learning need, and means analysis. The writer used descriptive qualitative research. The research subject was the students of the sixth semester of Constitutional Law program, the sample was superior class which is chosen based on highest level. In this research the writer used questionnaire. Research finding has shown in target situation analysis, the purpose of the students in learning English was to success in career and get the scholarship (66.7%), the language skill that students can use the most is reading (66.7%), the students will speak English with students (66.7%), the students will speak English in staff office (76.3%), the students will speak English in general meeting (51.7%). Present situation analysis, speaking was student difficulties (57.1%). Pedagogic analysis, inquiry methods become learning preferences of the students (81%). Deficiency analysis, speaking become the language skill that students need (85.7%). Learning need analysis, writing legal and academic documents is needed (76.3%). Last, for means analysis, the students need an atmosphere that can assist them in increasing their English. Keyword: Constitutional law, English teaching, Need analysis
