Abstract

ABSTRAK THE STUDENT'S PERCEPTION TOWARD THEIR ENGLISH TEACHER’S TEACHING STRATEGIES IN SPEAKING SKILL AT THE SECOND GRADE STUDENTS OF MA AL�ITTIFAQIAH INDRALAYA IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2021/2022 By: MUTHIA AZIZAH A perception is the process of interpreting, understanding or being aware of something by using the senses. Then, the strategies is an important aspect in the teaching and learning process. In the process of learning, speaking is one of difficult skill and crucial skill to be mastered. It is as a way to get many communication, especially for learners. Therefore, the objective of this research is to describe the students’ perception on teaching strategies used by the teacher in speaking skill at the second grade of MA Al-Ittifaqiah Indralaya in the academic year of 2021/2022. The research methodology used in this research is descriptive quantitative design. The population of this research was the second grade of MA Al-Ittifaqiah Indralaya. The sample was one class XI IPA 3, that consist of 30 students. To collect the data of students’ perception, there were 20 items of questionnaire. The data were analysed by using SPSS (Statistical Package for Socil Sciences) 25.0 program. Results of this research is presented descriptively in order to reveal the students’ perception comprehensively. It was found that the teachers have various strategies to teach speaking such as small-group discussion, games, and drilling strategy and the students had a good perception of the strategies used by the teacher in teaching speaking. They enjoyed the strategies used by the teacher in teaching skill. They could get some benefits through the strategies such as improving their self-confidence to speak up and expressing their ideas.
