Abstract

ABSTRACT Character is education carried out with a direct approach to students to instill moral values in an effort to prevent prohibited behavior. The formulation of the problem in this study is: how is the concept of early childhood character education from the perspective of Ki Hadjar Dewantara. The purpose of this study is to find out how the concept of early childhood character education is from the perspective of Ki Hadjar Dewantara. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a library research method. Data collection techniques in this study using documentation techniques. The primary data sources (principal) in this study were obtained from the work of Ki Hadjar Dewantara in his book (Perguruan Taman Siswa as the idea of a Garden of Knowledge and ethics) and Ki Hadjar Dewantara on the first part of education ". The secondary data sources are primary data sources related to the object of research. Furthermore, the data that has been obtained is then analyzed using content analysis. The results showed that Ki Hadjar Dewantara, the concept of early childhood character education according to Ki Hadjar Dewantara includes, families, schools and communities must work together and know their respective duties and functions, and there must be a qualified educator figure both in terms of science and personality side. In addition, to form quality students, it is necessary to have the right method in teaching, and to provide educational materials that are appropriate to their level. In this education, it must have a scope, namely, to God, to fellow human beings, and to the community.
