Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of the research is toknow whether there is an influence of using sentence combining practice towards students’ writing ability indescriptive text. The methodology of this research is experimental research design. The treatment held in three meetings which is 6x40 minutes for each class, which conducted the experimental and control class. The population of the research was the eleventh grade students of SMAN 12 Bandar Lampung in 2020/2021 academic year, the students was 70 students consist of two classes. The experimental class (XI 4) was 35 students and control class (XI 5) was 35 students as sample. In collecting data, pre-test and post-test were used as instrument. In additional, after analyzing the data by using independent t-test. It was found that result of Sig (P value) = 0.041< α =0.05. It means that Ha is accepted because Sig (P value) < α =0.05. In conclusion, that there was influence of using sentence combining practice towards students’ ability in writing descriptive text.
