Abstract

ABSTRACT The researcher would like to focus on the use of Information Gap Activities in speaking ability by using dialogue by describing something materials at the tenth grade of SMA NEGERI 01 WAY TENONG. The objective of this research was to know whether there was any significant influence of using Information Gap Activities by Dialogue towards students’ speaking ability at Tenth Grade of SMAN 1 Way Tenong in the academic year of 2019/2020. The writer applied Information Gap Activities to solve the problem, one way that could help the students improve their speaking ability because some of the teacher just use the old methods and it is monotoun for the students. The writer used quasi-experimental design. The writer used cluster random sampling to determine the sample. The sample of the research were two classes, X IPS 1 as experimental class and X IPS 3 as control class. In collecting the data, the writer used oral test. Before doing the treatment, the students did the pre-test, and after doing the treatment, the students did the post-test. After finishing the research, the writer analyzed the data using Independent Sample T-Test to know the influence or not. On the treatment of using Information Gap Activities, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It is support by the score ���������≤ � � � � that is 1,401 ≤ 2.002. In other words, there was a significant influence for students in the experimental class. While, the hypothesis of this research was accepted because there was significant influence of using Information Gap Activities towards student’s speaking skill at the first semester of the tenth grade of SMA N 1 Way Tenong in 2019/2020 academic year.
